Lush - New Haircare Range Launch Night

I got a little invite in my inbox this week to the VIP launch night of Lush's new haircare range. Having already heard all about it as I spend too much time on their website, I was very interested to see what they'd be like in person.

Honestly, from looking at them online I wasn't sure if I really wanted to buy anything from this range as it sounded like they were focused mainly around perfumed scents, which isn't really top of my priorities in haircare. Don't get me wrong, I love for them to smell nice, I would just rather they made my hair super clean the most.

Roots was designed for people with thin, fine hair and promises to revitalise and bring some life back to your hair. This is something I could see myself buying as I have quite fine hair that could do with some lift.

Fair Trade Honey  is a gorgeous, honey scented shampoo. The texture and appearance looks exactly like it's name, and although I've never used any hair products with honey in them before, I can imagine this to work really well.

Sea Spray is a hair mist that adds texture to your hair, and helps to add definition to hair with a natural wave. It would be a very good product to add to your collection if you like to scrunch your hair. As said before, I have very fine hair, so I'm not sure how well it would work with mine, but I really want to try it anyway and see if it works!

Blousey is a banana scented shampoo, and even if you don't like banana (which I don't) it actually smells so good! It promises to help restore coloured, damaged hair. This again, is something I could definitely use!

The final product that I took a little snap of was Big, and this was the first product I looked at upon entering the store. It is the solid conditioner for the very popular Big shampoo. I've never used the shampoo, so I can't comment on this, but I love the look of the conditioner bar and the girl who worked there was very kind and gave me a little sample to try, so I'm very excited to see how it works out.

I ended up buying the Fair Trade Honey shampoo, even though I really don't need anymore shampoo. I know I said above that I wasn't really attracted to hair products that were all about scent, but this just looks so good that I can't wait to try it. I'll probably have a review after about a week of trying it so I'll let you all know how I got on.

At the end of the night we all got a little goodie bag with some samples of their new products to try so I can't wait to see how they all work for me so I can go and buy the full sized products.

Tag - Would You Rather?

This has been on two different blog's I follow, Jessica and An-An so I thought I would do it too! Let's get started...

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up, or nice hair and no make-up?

Messy hair and nice make-up definitely! I wouldn't feel as bothered if my hair wasn't too great than my face.

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

Ermm...shave my eyebrows if I could draw them on? I think having no eyelashes would make me look like a mouse.

3. Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

Sephora obviously, especially since we don't have one here and I absolutely love it. So much more to choose from than just going to MAC alone.

4. Would you rather wear the lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?

Both are pretty bad and I can't really decide at all, but I'll go with the 80's perm just so I can at least laugh at it.

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

Overdone blush I think, a really obvious foundation line is pretty bad! 

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?

MC Hammer pants so that I could still be comfy! I would feel way too self conscious in biker shorts.

7. Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?

Really weird tan lines. Far too many people where I love have the bad orange-y spray tan and it looks awful.

8. Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?

This is one of the hardest ones and I still can't decide because I've had bad hair colour done twice and it is really awful. I think I'll go with a bad haircut because I could at least put it up in a bun and no one would really notice. Bad hair colour is too hard to hide!

9. Would you rather have youtube or twitter taken away forever?

Twitter definitely, I spend way more time on YouTube to have it taken away.

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?

Makeup brushes for sure. I can probably put on most things without them but as I said before, I would look like a mouse without mascara, my eyelashes are pretty much transparent! Far too blonde.

Lush - Jungle Solid Conditioner Bar Review

So I posted around a month ago that I was intending to do a review on the Jungle solid conditioner bar from Lush. I'm finally getting around to doing it now as I haven't really had the time! I had purchased it thinking that it would work quite similarly to the solid shampoo bars, but they're actually used slightly differently.

To use the bar I have found the best thing to do is run it under the warm water for a minute so that it starts to melt slightly. I then rub it through the ends of my hair like a bar of soap, please note that not a lot comes off when doing this, I just like to do it anyway. I then put the bar into my hands and rub it between them about 20 times, turning it over each time. This way the conditioner comes off in my hands like a liquid because it's starting to melt. This should leave the equivalent to conditioner from a bottle in your hands. I then rub it through the ends of my hair, and then the excess over the top of my head. You can rub it between your hands as many times as you want, it really is just up to you how much you want to put in your hair. The girl in the shop told me that the way she uses it is to cut a small piece off and put it in a small bowl of hot water before she gets into the shower so that it melts into that, I prefer it my way however, but that's just personal preference.

I have to say that every single time I use this conditioner bar I think I don't like it as it washes out just too easily for me and I feel like it hasn't worked, and every single time I think to myself that I'm not going to use it again. However, as soon as I wash my hair it is super soft and shiny and I know that it works very well.

Pros:

• Better for the environment since you aren't using any plastic bottles.
• Leaves my hair feeling surprisingly soft and shiny, better than other conditioners I've used.
• Really easy to use when travelling.
• Lasts around 2 months depending on how often you wash your hair.
• Inexpensive (cost me £2.95 for the bar)
• Nice fresh scent.
• Lasts a long time, half way through my bar a month later.

Cons:

• I find it hard to store as I usually keep it in the bag, but it sticks to the paper easily and tears it.

All in all, I'll definitely be buying it again. At only £2.95 for the bar, it's almost cheaper than a regular bottle of conditioner, and I think that it lasts a lot longer. I've been using it for a month now and I still have about half of it left. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and it smells good too. Another successful purchase at Lush!

Day 24 : Photo a day May

Day 24 : something new. I wasn't sure what to do for this. I was going shopping in town that night and thought that I would take a photograph of something new I bought. After thinking about it I realised it was mostly toiletries I would be buying for going away on holiday on Wednesday and that didn't seem very interesting. I choose to take a photograph of me since I got my hair done that day and go my fringe cut back in and my blonde highlights back.

Lush - The Hair Doctor review

Around 3/4 weeks ago I made a few purchases from Lush, and one of them was called The Hair Doctor. I have quite dry hair from dying and bleaching it for so many years so I'm always on the look out for hair products that will make my hair softer and in better condition. Everytime I get paid I like to go and make some purchases at Lush and I always look online and write a list first of what I want to buy. I checked out all the hair treatments they had available and this seemed to be the best one (and also a pretty good price). I decided to finally use it tonight for the first time, and I was very glad I did. It was also about to expire so I was lucky I checked it! When I was in the shop the girl told me to treat it as a dairy product because of the ingredients that were in it and to keep it in the fridge and that this was why it had an expiry date. The instructions on the tub said to put it on to dry hair and leave for 20 minutes. I had planned on using only about half the tub, but since I wouldnt be able to use it after today I ended up using the whole thing. As soon as I put it on my head I could smell the mint scent coming through straight away. It's a really nice smell and it's still there now after washing my hair. It took about 10 minutes to put it on my whole head and it's really heavy on your head when you've finished. After around 20 minutes I went up to wash it off. It's really thick and takes a while to wash out of your hair, and you have to use shampoo and conditioner afterwards as normal. I used the Karma shampoo bar from Lush and then the Glad Hair Day conditioner from Soap & Glory and I think they all worked well together. After washing it out of my hair and drying it my hair feels super clean. I think using it got rid of all the product build up that seemed to be in my hair and my hair feels much lighter. The peppermint in it is also supposed to be very good for your scalp if it's itchy. This isn't a problem I ever have, but I feel like my scalp feels really healthy after using it. As for helping with dry hair, I don't think it has on the ends, but it made my hair feel very smooth, and got rid of some of the frizz which means I could probably get away with not straightening it if I wanted to, since that's the only reason I straighten my hair.

Pros -

• Inexpensive (compared to other ones in Lush)
• Nice peppermint scent that lingers
• Clears up product build up
• Gives that squeaky clean feeling

Cons -

• Didn't quite do what I wanted, which was softer ends, but it did make the top of my hair nice and soft.

All in all, a good product, and for £6.50 a tub, I think it was worth it, and I know that I could get two uses out of it if I wanted to. I'll be buying it again on my next pay day :)
