Lush - Fair Trade Honey Shampoo Review

As promised, here's a review of the Fair Trade Honey Shampoo that I purchased at the launch night of the new range. If you want to know how that went you can check it out here.

So if you read my post on this you'll know that when I bought this I didn't exactly have the highest of expectations on what it would be like, and I bought it because the honey as an ingredient appealed to me. However, I was actually pleasantly surprised and since I bought this I haven't used any of my shampoo bars!

Very easy to use, but I'll explain anyway. Just put a small amount in your hand (you really don't need that much), massage through your hair, and then rinse.

When I explain the scent a lot of you are probably going to think I'm crazy, as I'm starting to believe that I'm the only one that can smell all these different scents. Firstly, I can smell honey, of course. Then when I sniffed more I could start to smell Turkish Delight, actual Turkish Delight, not the one that's covered in chocolate. Finally, I think it smells like cold tea! This was from using it and massaging through my hair, not from just smelling the bottle. As insane as these three scents sound together, I actually like the scent it leaves on my hair! I'm also going to accept the fact that I'm probably just crazy and no one else is going to notice any of these things...

As with a few other Lush hair products I've tried, I wasn't really convinced that this was anything fantastic when I washed my hair with it. However, once I dried my hair it felt amazing. My hair was so soft and smooth, and I'd actually describe it as feeling like silk. I have quite dry hair from having my hair dyed and highlighted so many times over the years, so it's not in the best condition. This however, made my hair feel amazing from the first use, and after using it a good few times now, I can definitely tell that it's really helping the condition of my hair.

Pros :
  • Leaves a lovely perfumed scent in hair with honey without being overpowering.
  • Great for those with dry, coloured hair.
  • Leaves hair feeling silky smooth.
  • All bottles can be returned to Lush to be recycled.
Cons :
  • I really want to say nothing, because honestly I adore this shampoo, but I can see the price being too much for some people as it is £7.00 for a 110g bottle, compared to the £5.25 shampoo bars.
Overall, I can't recommend this shampoo enough. I can see my shampoo bars being set aside for a good while now because I love this product so much, and if you've followed my blog for a while, you'll know how much I love my shampoo bars! Trust me on this, you should definitely check this shampoo out if you get a chance.

Have you tried this Lush product? If yes, what did you think of it? Am I the only one being crazy with the scents?!

Lush - Emotional Brilliance Launch/Review + Swatches

Hey everyone, if you follow my blog then you will know already that I mentioned last week that I was going to the launch of the Emotional Brilliance collection at Lush tonight, and as promised, I'm here straight away to do a review and let you all know what I thought.

Firstly, I thought it was pretty awesome how they had a little list to tick everyone off on entering, and you were greeted with a lovely goodie bag, and a raffle ticket (unfortunately I didn't win). As soon as you walked in, there was a table laiden with lots of lovely treats and drinks, which were really good to snack on when walking round.

Inside the goodie bag I found the following three products :

  • Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie (£15.95)
  • Dirty (£4.10)
  • Sultana of Soap (£3.35)

This totals to £23.40 which is very impressive and I'm so thankful to Lush for this! Now I have new products to review as I've never tried any of these before so I'm absolutely delighted.

The first table is the colour wheel table. It was explained that you close your eyes and let yourself into a place where you feel happy and relaxed, and the wheel is spun. Your eyes remain close for around ten seconds, and some fancy dry ice creates a mist over the wheel. You then pick the first three colours which you are immediately drawn to after it settles. The three colours I choose where definitely not one's I would normally go for at all, and I was very interested to find out their meaning.

The first colour you choose represents the one that currently represents your life, the second what your weakness or downfall is, and the third is how you go about changing your life.

My colours where Calm, Lifted and Dynamic.

Next, someone will take you over to the make up collection and show you the products which your moods have chosen for you. As much as I loved the colours that I had chosen, I had seen a few photographs online of people who had went to the press launch and had already fallen in love with all the pink lipglosses, and had to choose two of them instead!

I ended up buying Passionate and Charm.

Passionate is a gorgeous vibrant pink colour, and is highly pigmented and is very bold on the lips. Not a colour I've had before.

Charm is what I'm going to refer to as Barbie pink, and is exactly the same shade as OPI's Pink Friday. I always thought this colour wasn't one which I would like for my lips, as I have saw a similar shade in a MAC lipstick, but after trying it on I really loved it and ended up buying it.

The photograph on the left shows the two colours (Passionate on the left, Charm on the right), under a light, and the one on the right shows them using the flash on the camera. It was dark when I came home so I wasn't able to use any natural light! If you want to see more photographs, or how they look when on, just let me know!

I wanted to buy a third, but wasn't sure which colour to go for, and after already trying on 4 or 5 different lip colours, I felt the colour was getting stuck to my lips too much, even though they had remover to take them off, so I think I'll maybe go back in the next two weeks when I have time and get another one as there was some really pretty red colours too. I tried one on before leaving, and even after going for food after, the colour was still intact so I know these are definitely going to have good wear on them.

There was also a third table which had their mascara, liquid eyeliner, powder and skin tints, but I had came shortly after finishing work so I couldn't try the mascara and eyeliner, and I'd also just bought a new foundation which I had tested on me at the counter before going to Lush so I didn't get to try them either! However, I'll be back!

All in all, a really fun night, and I was so glad to be invited to this event, and I hope they do another one soon as I had been looking forward to it all week and it didn't disappoint!

Lush - Emotional Brilliance

I knew about this a few weeks ago, as I discovered the video on the US Lush website as I was doing some browsing. After a bit of research on other people's blogs I found out that this was the launch of Lush's make-up line. As a lover of both Lush, and make-up this was very exciting news for me and I'm super excited to try it all out!

You can watch the video with a super catchy song by clicking here. It doesn't give too much away of what exactly Emotional Brilliance is but I can tell you here. The way it works is that there is a colour wheel which you spin after closing your eyes for 10 seconds. Once you open them, you pick the first 3 colours which stand out in your mind. Each colour has a meaning which is supposed to reflect your current mood. You may find that you choose colours you wouldn't normally go for. I found this very different as I haven't heard of any make-up brand ever having products which show your mood.

The launch is next week on July 21st. I visited the store last week and was speaking to the sales assistants about it, who asked how I had even heard about it because it had been kept very quiet and they hadn't been allowed to tell anyone about it, so obviously I felt pretty pleased with myself for hearing about it before most other people. They told me I could put my name down for their VIP party the night before where they would have all the products available before they go on general release. This news just made my day and I'm so excited as it is a week from today, and I can't wait to go and get some new products as I've looked at people's blogs who went to the press release and some of the swatches look amazing.

I'll do a review with swatches of my purchases the night of the release so you can all have a look at them to see how you like them! Watch this space!
